For August's Free First Thursday, learn about the history and science of Seattle’s earthquakes, what the City is doing to reduce damages, and how you can make your home and family safer!
Register your own earthquake on a real seismometer and speak with regional earthquake experts from FEMA Region 10, the City of Seattle, and the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network. Come early for earthquake story time, and stay late to learn how indigenous legends and stories have helped in preparing for disasters.

10 am–5 pm: Take part in the Seismic Design Challenge in the Faye G. Allen Grand Atrium
10 am–5 pm: Understanding Unreinforced Masonry Buildings film screenings in the Joshua Green Foundation Theater
10 am–6 pm: Register your own earthquake on a real seismometer with the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network on the Boeing Community Terrance
11 am: Earthquake story time in the Faye G. Allen Grand Atrium
6 pm: Early Warnings from Ancient Stories: The Legacy of Native Myths and Stories in Earthquake Preparedness with Calvin Bray in the Joshua Green Foundation Theater
