September 2022 Speaker: Austin Dwyer, "Tugboats To Remember"

Friday, September 16 from 6 – 7 PM.
In-person at our Wagner Education Center Sail Loft, and livestreamed via Zoom. This is a free event.

Artist and author Austin Dwyer shares the tales of the unsung heroes of maritime history. Shining the spotlight on hard working tugboats with their gripping stories and dangerous circumstances where steel, wood, rope and true grit of the crew aided vessels in distress and saved lives.

Culminating in four years of painting and writing, Austin hoists up the unglamorous and unnoticed life of a tugboat, getting duly elevated and appreciated in this visual celebration to the maritime industry.

His book, "Tugboats To Remember" is a follow up to "Ships To Remember" ("Ships to Remember" published by History Press - London)

This talk is part of our collaboration with the Pacific Rim Institute of Marine Artists (PRIMA) on an exhibit featuring up to 35+ pieces of art by 10+ artists. The show will be in the Wagner Education Center from Sept 10 - December 17, 2022. Entry is always free.
