MadArt Opening Reception: Niche Audience by Claire Cowie & Leo Berk

MadArt Studio presents Niche Audience, a sculptural installation by Seattle-based artists and partners Leo Berk and Claire Cowie. Their first-time, large-scale collaboration is inspired by architectural niches and how they have been used for seclusion and shelter across cultures. This exhibition features freestanding sculptural alcoves fabricated from recycled and refuse construction materials sourced from South Lake Union. Select structures host figural works, while others invite guests to enter and become immersed in the artwork. Through Niche Audience, Cowie and Berk provide a place for visitors to engage in collective art viewing while maintaining space for individual comfort as we emerge from pandemic limitations.
